Autumn is the romantic season, and I have an autumn ballet performance for you.
There’s something restorative about sitting with beautiful music and dancers moving well. Yunbyul Ballet Company is bringing a gala to Suwon in September, and for anyone in the region who’s been wanting high-quality ballet nearby, this is the one.
Tickets

| Seat | Price |
|---|---|
| R | ₩60,000 |
| S | ₩45,000 |
| A | ₩30,000 |
For an evening of both classical repertoire and new work, that’s a reasonable price — considerably less than a national company ticket.
Parking

Underground car park hours: normally 09:00–18:00. On performance days it closes within one hour of the performance ending.
Payment: card or Samsung Pay only. No cash. Worth knowing before you’re at the barrier.
What “En Dehors” means

The title is a ballet term.
En dehors describes opening the legs outward — turnout, the rotation away from the centre of the body that everything in classical technique is built on.
The company have chosen it to mean something warmer: that the energy pouring off the stage should reach out and carry into the audience.
It’s a nice piece of naming. Turnout is the thing you spend years fighting for at the barre, and here it’s being used as a metaphor for generosity.
The programme

The evening is split into two halves, and the pairing is the appeal:
Part 1 and Part 2 place grand, familiar classical works alongside new pieces by young choreographers.
That’s a good structure for a mixed audience. You get the pieces you recognise — the ones where you know what’s coming and can enjoy watching it done well — and then you get something you’ve never seen, made by someone still figuring out what they want to say.
If you’re a hobby dancer, the classical extracts are also the ones you might recognise from repertoire class. Watching a variation you’ve struggled with, danced properly, is a specific pleasure I’d recommend.
Booking

Book early. Regional galas by independent companies have smaller runs than national company seasons, and they do sell out.
Check the schedule before you plan around it — gala programmes and casting are sometimes finalised late.
For anyone in Suwon or the surrounding area who’s been waiting for good ballet without a trip into Seoul: this is it.
