Why this is the one I wear most

It’s the most basic thing I own, and that’s precisely the point.
It mixes with everything. No colour to work around, no detail that demands a particular skirt. So it comes out of the drawer more than anything else in there.
If you are buying your first leotard, buy something like this. The interesting ones can come later, once you know what you actually wear.
The colour

Not a flat white — it has a soft shimmer through it.
The closest I can get is white pearl caught in sunlight. Quiet rather than sparkly.
That gentle sheen is what makes it feel expensive when it isn’t especially, and it’s why I don’t mind wearing it to repertoire class.
The back

The straps adjust, which is worth more than it sounds if you’re between sizes or if your shoulders sit unevenly (mine do).
Wearing it in summer

It’s been hot, so I’ve stopped wearing warmers.
I want to say plainly: there’s nothing awkward about wearing this on its own. The coverage is fine and nothing feels exposed. That was a real worry for me early on and I know it is for other people too.
Layered with warmers it looks completely different — more considered, less plain.
Where I’ve worn it

Regular class, and repertoire class as well. It’s smart enough for both.
The DEGAGE pop-up at Yongsan I-Park Mall
This was a while ago now, but I visited their pop-up store.
Worth watching for if you’re in Seoul — seeing this brand’s fabrics in person is a different experience from the product photos, and the shimmer on the pearl white in particular does not translate to a screen.
Verdict
₩72,000, size M true to size.
If someone starting adult ballet asked me what to buy first, this is what I’d say. Not the exciting one. The one you’ll wear on a Tuesday.
