The only major ballet opening we found this week is in Seattle. On Friday, Pacific Northwest Ballet opens Ghost Stories, with Balanchine’s La Sonnambula back after nearly 20 years and a world premiere of The Raven by principal dancer Kyle Davis. New York City Ballet is between seasons, so this week’s guide also looks ahead to Nutcracker season.

A four-part program for the season of ghosts. Balanchine’s La Sonnambula follows a Poet who meets a mysterious Sleepwalker at a masked ball; Alejandro Cerrudo’s Silent Ghost and PACOPEPEPLUTO show his moody and playful sides; and Kyle Davis’ The Raven, after Poe’s poem, has its world premiere on Friday. New York, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia
We checked the official sites of New York City Ballet, New York City Center, Lincoln Center, the Joffrey Ballet, Boston Ballet and Philadelphia Ballet, and found no ballet performances from these companies and venues for November 2–8. New York City Ballet’s next performances are The Nutcracker from November 27, and City Center’s main stage has the musical In the Heights this week. In Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia, the next ballet performances are also Nutcracker runs, listed below.

Visitor Tip: Use the Free Extras
Many companies add free events around a performance, and they are easy to miss if you only look at the ticket page. At PNB this week, there is a free half-hour Ballet Talk one hour before each show and a free Meet the Artist Q&A right after every performance, both in the Nesholm Family Lecture Hall downstairs.
